Course Description
The goal of this course is to foster informed responsible participation in public life. Knowing how to be a good citizen is essential to the preservation and improvement of United States democracy. Upon completion of this course the student will understand the major ideas, protections, priviledges, structures and economic systems that affect the life of a citizen in the United States political system. This course is recommended for seniors due to their proximity to voting age.

Grading/Evaluation of performance

Students will be given a test approximately every 3 weeks throughout the semester. Each test will assess student mastery of EACH standard indentified in the state curriculum.

Homework will be assigned weekly. The homework assignments will not have to be turned in, however they may be used during the test. Test questions will be derived from the homework assignments.

Grading Scale

100 - 93% = A 86 - 83% = B 76 - 73% = C 66 - 63% = D
92 - 90% = A- 82 - 80% = B 72 - 70% = C- 62 - 60% = D-
89 - 87% = Bt 79 - 77% = Ct 69 - 67% = Dt 59% - 0 = F
